Keeley’n Spotlight: Matt Bureau

The Keeley Construction Industrial Group recognized the need to expand our services and our Heavy Industries team was formed. This team has grown exponentially over the past few years and has brought large-scale, complex projects to Keeley, exceeding expectations every time. Matt Bureau, Project Director, has been with the Heavy Industries Group since its inception and he is proud to reflect on everything they have accomplished thus far.

Matt joined Keeley two years ago and has never looked back. While there have been some challenges, especially starting a new group and bringing on new customers, Matt and the team have been fully embraced and supported from day one. Every issue that has come up has been met with a smile, an innovative solution, and a lesson learned, and Matt knows that everyone here truly wants to help the team succeed.

“Being that we are a new pioneer-type investment, we have been empowered to work within existing Keeley systems and adapt those systems where we can to facilitate Heavy Industries projects and demands. Everyone I have encountered has allowed us the freedom to explore the possibilities and define our operating needs.”

Ever since he was a child, Matt has loved building things from raw materials. This passion at such a young age led him straight to the construction industry. For him, watching something as elaborate as a cryogenic processing plant go from a conceptual design and drawings, transition to heaps of pipe and steel, to then watching it take shape into an operational facility is one of the most rewarding feelings. The fast-paced environment and continuous changes keep him ready to take on any challenge while using his strategic mindset to meet and exceed all deadlines and requirements. This is such an exciting industry and Matt has loved every single second. So, if he could give advice to those just starting out, it would be:

“Patience is the key to success. We may have to put in a little extra effort now, but that just means we will understand the system even better and the end result will be that much greater.”

As the Heavy Industries team continues to grow and tackle new project, Matt looks forward to the future. He envisions the team growing to a position where they can be split and regionalized due to the high volume of opportunities. Keeley Heavy Industries will be a well-known, respected name in the industry and he sees them being the preferred contractor in all aspects of Heavy Industries scopes of work – from renewables and midstream oil & gas to petrochemicals.

Matt and the team constantly feel support from those around them and strive to live out Keeley’s core values every single day. Matt’s favorite core value is People because he truly knows that he works with some of the most talented people in the industry.

“I am better at my job now than I have ever been simply based on watching the talent that surrounds me and modeling their successes in my own career path.”

Since joining Keeley, Matt has embraced the culture and realized that at Keeley, he is not just a number. The culture is unlike anything he has ever experienced and he knows that he has truly found his career destination.

“Keeley is a unicorn. A growing company with defined growth goals, an amazing cultural environment, opportunity to grow your own personal career alongside the company, incredible benefit program, events that are fun and exciting, and an amazing vision – what more could you ask for? I have never been part of something so genuine and so robust. I am proud to be here, spread the Keeley mission, and show others what it means to be a Keeley’n.”

Matt, thank you for your leadership and expertise in our Heavy Industries Group. We can’t wait to see all the incredible things you accomplish!
