Keeley'n Spotlight: Mike Flom

As our team and presence in Texas continues to expand, we need Keeley’ns that are ready to step up to the challenge and drive our vision. We have been doing work in Texas for decades and our Paving team continues to build strong relationships and exceed expectations on every project. Mike Flom, Director of Operations for Texas Paving, leads his team with a passion for quality work, exceptional customer service, and growth.

Mike joined the Keeley team in 2021 as a Senior Project Manager/Estimator. From the moment he met with Larry and Rusty Keeley, along with Keeley leadership, Mike knew that he wanted to be part of the team. Keeley’s values and culture perfectly aligned with his and he has received continuous encouragement and support as he grows in his career. Joining Keeley and being given the freedom to grow and make decisions has allowed Mike to feel very empowered in his work.

“I feel empowered in my work through the acceptance of my recommendations and ideas for the future of the Keeley Texas Paving division. It brings me so much joy to see Keeley grow and the Keeley name become well-known throughout Texas. I look forward to the future and all that it will bring with the continued success of our team.”

Growing up, Mike knew that he wanted to get into the construction industry because he loved the idea of building something and then years later seeing it thriving knowing that he had a part in bringing that project to life. Since joining the industry, his favorite thing has been the people and the relationships that he has made. His passion for Paving runs deep and it is an amazing feeling when he can form bond with a team member that shares his passion. The camaraderie between industry team members and professionals has allowed the industry to be a continued success. So, if he could give one piece of advice to someone wanting to join the industry, it would be:

“Be patient in learning, confident in your success, remain vigilant in safety, and know that no matter how many years you work in the industry, your success is through continuously learning new things.”

Throughout his career, Mike has learned a lot of valuable lessons. However, the most important one is that everyone truly has a voice and it’s important to listen to everyone’s input. Bringing different opinions and experiences together will build the strongest team. As he continues to build his team, Mike is excited for what lies ahead. His vision for the future is for Keeley Construction to be the largest self-performing commercial paving company in the industry. The only way we will get there is with our mission and values as our guide, and Mike lives these values every single day.

“My favorite core value is Integrity. Integrity is defined as being honest and having a strong moral compass. When you instill and demand employees to have integrity in their work, I believe a company has no limits in growth. People have to trust those they work with in all industries, so when we speak of contracts and jobs, it’s the people who you know you can trust that will make the best partners.”

Mike knows that he has found his career destination at Keeley and is grateful for everything that has led him here. With endless opportunities and a bright future ahead, Mike knows he and the team are just getting started, and they are always looking for new talent to join the family.
